Baking & Pastry Chefs

Pursuing a career as a pastry chef is a wise decision. Trained pastry graduates can expect a strong job market today and faster than average growth for the next several years. The culinary programs featured on this site are designed to prepare you to enter a variety of baking and pastry positions in the culinary arts industry. Students meet objectives through hands-on production and application. These programs enable students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for employment as a baking or pastry chef.

Culinary school graduates often go on to become dessert chefs in fine dining establishments or bread makers. As bread makers, graduates work in local bakeries or in commercial environments, where they make production pastries for pastry and coffee shops, banquets, hotels, etc. By the time you receive your pastry chef diploma, you will have experienced extensive hands-on learning in the major areas of professional pastries.

Intensive, "Learn by Doing" Culinary Programs

The goal of all programs is to provide culinary students with a comprehensive overview of the pastry arts industry. Students are introduced to a wide variety of techniques and styles. The course material is covered in a workshop-style format that addresses "real-world" production methods, including safety and health issues. These pastry chef training programs are designed to get you into the industry immediately following graduation.

Typical Pastry Chef Training

The pastry arts programs that are featured on this site take place in fully equipped commercial kitchens. The day usually begins with a lecture and discussion of the day's pastry selections. You then work in small groups to make a selection of pastries, breads or desserts, gaining extensive hands-on experience with production techniques. Students often sample each other's work as the instructor evaluates the final products.
